What’s been happening?

I’ve completed my Yoga Teacher Training course with Friends in Yoga www.friendsinyoga.org.au . Assignments are completed and exams are past and passed, Yeehah!! and my graduation is coming up in February.  This has been a wonderful experience and some great practical learning for me on how we can use “Motivation plus Discipline” or opt for the easier way of using “Inspiration” to pull us forward towards our goals.  I’ve used both, and I know which I prefer!! I started teaching in Fremantle in July and this month I am launching a new class in Mt. Claremont, see Events Coming Up, and I have plans for further classes in Claremont later in the year.

This year we hosted an American exchange student.  Daman arrived on Australia day and returned to Oregon on Nov 30th after completing Year 12.

My daughter, Nicki, has graduated from Year 12, completing her final TEE exams in November.

So, a year of education, assignments and exams for the whole household! (The dog didn’t let on exactly what subjects he was studying, but I suspect he was carrying out a study on relaxation techniques, along with a spot of archaeology and the analysis of old bones).

The Weekend Getaway in August was a great success for us all. 13 of us stayed at Hilltop Farm in Wooraloo.  We ate yummy food, created vision boards, painted glass bottles for our daily 2 litre water intake, watched inspirational movies, practiced Yoga and dancing meditation in the most wonderful Dome structure, enjoyed the rain showers and sunshine and came away inspired and rested. There’s a getaway scheduled for March, with others planned for July, and October this year.   See Events Coming Up, below for details.

My clients have created some wonderful wins for themselves; new businesses set up and flourishing, new relationships, existing relationships rejuvenated, improved health and fitness, many wonderful synchronicities (ever seen a 10 year old manifest a 4 Wheel Drive? ) and new levels of peace and joy and energy.  I feel privileged to have been a part of their journeys.

Feature –

In 1910, Wallace Wattle wrote a book called The Science of Getting Rich.  A fascinating book and you can get a free copy from www.thescienceofgettingrich.net

Mr Wattle tells us

"You will get rich most easily in terms of effort, if you do that for which you are best fitted, but you will get rich most satisfactorily if you do that which you want to do."

Maybe you are really good at your job and you love it. Perfect! Or maybe you are really good at your job, but, truthfully, your heart isn’t in it any more.

Just because you are good at something it doesn’t mean that you have to do it.

This year, Ian Thorpe, for example, chose to end his career as a medal winning swimmer and move on to something new. Closer to home, my clients have also been listening to their heart’s desire.  Stacy left her job as a PA and became a full-time artist and mother, turned down offers to return to work and her first solo exhibition is scheduled for this month.  Sara, another excellent PA, is now using her skills running her own business, “Finer Details,” which provides Personal Concierge Services.  Annette, who works  in Information Systems, has had her first short story published.  Don’t allow yourself to be too busy doing what you are good at, to spend some time doing what you love!

Of course, to follow this principle, you don’t have to go all out and change your job. Maybe you are really good at DIY, and find yourself spending all your spare time helping others out? Maybe you are an excellent listener, and have work colleagues who consistently drain your energy and time, telling you all their woes and gripes.  By all means, practice kindness and help others, but remember to be kind to yourself. You can’t help others if you are stressed, resentful, or exhausted.

Just because you are good at something it doesn’t mean you have to do it !

What are you doing, just because you are “Good At It”?

I’d love to hear your feedback on this. Will you drop me an email susie_coach@bgpond.com  ?

Books I have enjoyed reading over the last 6 months:

Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger? Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live.

Tuesdays with Morrie is a magical chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world.

For one more Day by Mitch Albom.

“If you had the chance, just one chance, to go back and fix what you did wrong in life, would you take it? And if you did, would you be big enough to stand it? Mitch Albom, in this new book, once again demonstrates why he is one of my favorite writers: a fearless explorer of the wishful and magical, he is also a devout believer in the power of love. For One More Day will make you smile. It will make you wistful. It will make you blink back tears of nostalgia. But most of all, it will make you believe in the eternal power of a mother's love."

The Color of Water

I love running these workshops and feedback has always been positive. Over the years I have come to realise that I do not enjoy coordinating people’s availability and venue availability. So, this coming year I have decided to experiment with a new way of doing things.

Here’s the plan….

If you organise a group (minimum of 4 people, maximum of 8 people) and a venue, then we can run the workshop for your group at a total cost of $300 ($100 for the Dream Book workshop). The cost per person works out to between $37.50 and $75.

Thanks for Reading !
