(Finland) First of all, having a life coach is a big help in taking the first step towards changing things concretely. We can all have wonderful thoughts on how nice it would be to do this and that and to work on ourselves. Haven’t we all read a fantastic book on self-development and thought that “yes, this is exactly how I am going to do things from now on”and then it has just remained a good intent? At least I have done this many times.

To actually take time to reflect on things we do and don’t do, I find it beneficial to work with a coach. To realize that there are so many small things we CAN do to improve our lives, to be aware of all the times we do the right things, to think about how to change things when we instinctively feel that we must be doing some of the “wrong things”.

Judging by the way we feel… a life coach (Susie) can help you with all of these things.

For me, things get very concrete when you talk to someone about them, list things down and follow-up the progress.  I like a systematic way of working in general, so why should I not use that method also for working on myself? As a bonus, there comes small surprises along the way – things you had not even intentionally marked down as something you want to work with. All of a sudden you just realize things and change the way to think and act.

A bonus on the way for me has been to grow more self-compassionate. I am going well! And I DO achieve stuff all the time. When I don’t it’s not that bad – there is usually some reason for it and I can more easily get back to where I want to be after a “bad week or month”. Before, I would let things go quite far before I realized that I should stop, think the situation through and find a remedy to it…and change the small things I was doing! Now, I can more easy recognize the emotion – ‘everything is not all right now’ – and start thinking about what to do to change things. Because I know that I CAN change things. It is not Susie making those changes, it is me. But to get me to go in the direction I want to go in, Susie has been a tremendously big help and a “guide”walking somewhere with me on the road. Someone I can turn to when I want to discuss what road I could possible want to take next. I know that I have the answer, but through discussions, very spot-on questions and concrete exercises and examples, Susie can help me find the answer within myself.

When I started to work with Susie, I was in a place where I should have been super happy – I had a new, wonderful boyfriend and had just moved in with him for a while during our search for a mutual apartment. Life should have been great! But if wasn’t. I felt terrible and had a lot of health problems due to stress. I was living proof of that a relationship does not make you 100% happy. The happiness must come from within and YOU must be happy with yourself in order to really be happy. So, no need for all singles out there to think that they would be happy “if only the right one would come along”. Nope, doesn’t happen that way. You can be happy no matter if you’re single or not and you can be it only when it comes from yourself. That’s what I think at least.

Once I started to work with Susie, my life slowly changed. Quite in baby steps really. I kind of first thought that my life should turn around really dramatically since some of my friends have changed their life quite drastically after working with a life coach. But for me it was about small, daily things, really.  I became more calm and started feeling quite well again. I knew that things had to change and I needed to move forward from a situation I was not happy with. I changed jobs, I changed hobbies, we found the new apartment, I changed my way of working and thinking about work. I learned that I have the right to be happy and that’s what I am going to be. I am actually very, very happy with my life right now 🙂 And yes, still with the same, wonderful boyfriend.

Now I am happy within ME and I can appreciate a good relationship even more 🙂
